clip-in

Close copy of an early baroque bow from around 1700, probably Italian . The round and convex stick is made from snake wood.  It has a low tip, and weighs around 48 grams. Originally the bow had a clip-in frog.  A cremallière-mechanism or a modern screw mechanism are possible.

cremallière

My idea of an Italian sonata bow. I would place it around 1740. Stick, frog and button are made from snake wood. Between 48 and 52 grams. This model is also fine in ironwood, then with ivory frog and button.

Classical bow for violin, probably French, around 1775. The stick is made from ironwood, on request I can make it from Pernambuco, the frog and button are made from fossil ivory.  It weighs around 52-54 grams and it is a great bow for Mozart and Haydn.

with a different colour

Classical bow for violin, around 1780. The stick is made from ironwood and is longer and heavier than the previous bow. Frog and button are made from fossil ivory.   It weighs about 57 grams and I would mainly use it for Mendelssohn and Beethoven.

Elegant classical bow for violin, probably German or Austrian, around 1770. The stick was made from Pernambuco. The  frog, which was not original, from ebony. Most bows from this period have ivory frogs.
