As I am an active baroque violin player, my collegues serve as an invaluable source of inspiration and information. I have had the fortune to see and copy many interesting original bows owned by professional string players. By this method, I can reproduce not only the correct measurements of a bow, but also its feel.

At the age of 12, I began playing the violin. Later I went on to study the modern violin in Amsterdam with Jaap Schröder. It was however his beautiful baroque violin playing which first sparked my interest in this wonderful instrument. After graduating with my degree on modern violin I spent three years studying with Lucy van Dael.

In 1988, I went to Canada to play  in the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra. It was there that I began making early instrument bows with Stephen Marvin. Two years later I returned to my hometown of Amsterdam where I now work as a bow maker and baroque violinist.
